Artist's Comments

Well, here it is... hopefully not the final version, but more like a work in progress... The real size is 3000X4000, though I thought I would shrink it, because at such detail, the quality is lower. I know it needs some work, and looks empty, but I think it looks pretty awesome :D

This time, I was mostly working on making believeable background stars, with depth and realistic looks, while also giving a few colorful planets, and what I would call a believeable dust-type lane. Hopefully it looks realistic, at least as much as space art can.

The only stand out problem that I can identify, is the fact the the "sun" blocked out most of the background stars behind it... I had hoped that I could get around that with different layer blending styles... though I guess I made it too bright.

Any and all critique is welcome.

That looks pretty damn good to me!! Though as you said yourself, it would look more realistic if you added some very very tiny and faded stars to the background. Since the check is on for Advanced Critique...I think it would also improve the reality of the work if next to the biggest, brightest star (?) you faded the stars and that galaxy arm. So rather than having nothing but black space, you had very light, subtle views of the galaxy arm (forgive me if that's not what it is). Then you could gradually bring it back up to normal brilliance as you got farther away from the star. This would also help show the star's true power. Another suggestion I have to help improve the realism, you could try using different shades of near-white for the stars, rather than having them all completely white. Especially on the big main star and the other bigger stars in the background. Right now it's more like someone is shining their headlights into your face from a hole in space, than a star. Finally, the lighting on the planet closest to the star doesn't seem intense enough for it's close proximity to the star. You should definitely bring that up a notch...or a couple =D If you decide to change the color of the main star (hopefully you will use more than one color), remember to also change the color of the light shining on the planets. I hope that helped you! This is looking kickass already, and I'm sure if you take those suggestions to mind, it would become even better ^^

Oh wow, this is beautiful. I think it came out well balanced, and the different colored planets were creative. ^^ I especialy like the blue that comes down that seems to go throught the sun. I give this a thumbs up! ^_^

I think you are quite unpopular, as vegetables go.
